I wish there was an option to give more than 5 stars. As someone who is new to taking care of their nails and having had terrible experiences in the past, I was very apprehensive to come to Chayil but the service and overall attitude far exceeded my expectations. I had the pleasure of getting my nails done with Emily and I highly recommend her services. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her work. Emily made me feel extremely comfortable and continued to educate me with every step she made. The process was efficient, easy, and emily was very attentive to detail. For anyone thinking about coming here, please consider coming and ask for emily if you can she truly is one-of-a-kind and amazing at what she does. A great experience overall! ~ Shari J

Such a wonderful experience! Came in as a walk-in from out of town from NYC desperate for some TLC. Gorgeous location in downtown. Very spacious and feminine (you feel so pretty in here). Perla was my technician. So so friendly — I’m a boring nail client so I told her to do what she wants. We chose a simple and sophisticated color with a trendy oval shape on my natural nails. She’s amazing and so talented! Thank ya, lady! The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Not snooty, just like a bunch of girlfriends having a good time listening to R&B (classic rich auntie traveling the world vibes). Management is doing well with creating an inviting/clean atmosphere. Absolute angels. I came in with a severe detangling issue that two other salons were not knowledgeable enough to do. They made extra time for me and dedicated two full days of work to working through it until my hair turned out beautifully. They saved my hair and I was able to keep my length despite a situation that other salons said would requiring cutting my 22-inch-long hair down to a pixie cut. I am forever grateful. Thank you. If you need to take out dreadlocks or have a severe matting or detangling need, they have the skill and patience to help what others could not do. They were incredibly kind and non-judgmental (the stylist said "We all go through hard things sometimes.") and did it for an exceptional price. ~ Christa L

Tameka was such a breath of fresh air! I was in town for a wedding and Melodie helped coordinate getting me in a little early so I had plenty of time to get ready for the event. I was served a wonderful glass (or two) of champagne and some chocolate while I enjoyed my services. I got a gel mani and pedi. Tameka was sweet, personable and kept me laughing. Completely turned my day around. :) The space is nice and clean, bright and right in the middle of everything so you get some good people watching out the garage door windows. 10/10 recommend if you’re looking for good people, good atmosphere and quality service. It can be draining trying to find a salon that does top notch work, that also doesn’t feel so impersonal. I’ve lived in DTLA for a while now and I wish I found this place sooner. From the ambiance, to the quality of service, to the incredibly kind nail techs that work here, it’s always something I look forward to. The women that work here are consistent with their communication, and you can really tell your comfort & experience is their priority. Wow it’s taken me too long to write a review! I’m a super fan of Emily’s and have been to see her I think 4 or 5 times now. She’s a perfectionist with the cuticles, and I appreciate that so much because mine get dry and visible after a while. I don’t do anything too hip. I’m just not capable of pulling it off. But she did a modern French tip gel manicure with red on the tip and a nude base and amazing! I got complimented quite a bit. I made sure to refer them to Emily since she’s the rhyme and reason behind the sweet nails. Yesterday I went pink and she did this amazing hibiscus design. So. Cute! ~ Jackie B

I started coming here a little over 3 years ago and Bessie helped me and the other girls helped my daughters. I am a very very picky person about my nails I know what I like and what I don’t like I have been doing my nail for about 20 years. From the very first time Bessie did my nails I explained exactly what I want and that’s exactly what I got. She took her time very patient with me did such amazing job now I will never change her. I love having a lot of bling designs and that’s exactly what I get I just pick the color and she dose the rest. We had such an amazing experience at this nail salon! I brought my partner and a friend in for pedicures one afternoon, and from the moment we walked in, we felt totally welcomed. The space is cozy, clean, and inviting—and whatever air freshener they use, I need it in my house ASAP. It smells so good in there! All the ladies were fun, friendly, and incredibly skilled. I struggle with painful ingrown nails from working out and walking my dog a lot, and for the first time ever, getting them worked on didn’t hurt. Danielle was so gentle, gave me a fantastic massage, and made the whole experience feel like actual self-care instead of something I had to brace for. Thank you, Danielle! At the end of our visit, I got to meet the owner, who was just as warm and lovely as the space she’s created. You can really feel the care and thought that goes into this place—from the service to the vibe. If you get a chance, do yourself a favor and book an appointment. You deserve it! ~ AJ A

Wow!! Amazing service and treatment from Chayil Maison.The salon is beautiful, clean, and dog-friendly (even gave my pup a water bowl) !! The warm atmosphere of the manager and staff had me and my doggie feeling right at home while I had my hair and nails done. (Plus champagne, tea and popcorn offered ooh la laaaa...) I had Tameka put flexirods into my natural hair. She is Professional and highly skilled at what she does. She took down my previous (complicated and messy to get out) weave and quickly put beautiful curls into my hair. It's my first time wearing this style and she did it so beautifully, shows you exactly how to take care of it and is such a joy to chat with the whole time. Tameka is a blessing, girl! I will definitely be coming back to this awesome salon as it's a one stop shop for hair, nails, waxing, and excellent customer service, 10 out of 10!! I needed to get red-carpet ready for a premiere and so glad I found them. The owner, Mel, is incredibly gracious. She scheduled my appointment over the phone after squeezing me in on short notice. She greeted me at the door, offering me a beverage while I settled in + picked my color. Tameka did my pedicure + Emily did my manicure. They are truly artists and take incredible pride in doing their work with such meticulous detail + care. They both have such a great energy, it was so fun to vibe with them. THANK YOU! P.S. Aramesh is my Favorite! She is a perfectionist who takes pride & joy in her work, always leaving me feeling beautiful and glamorous. She is well worth my money and I am so glad I found her. I would highly recommend. She is professional, up to date and has a keen eye of what looks good for each client. I am pleased with her services. She is a maestro at so much, she gets booked up fast. I deeply appreciate that, as a nail salon, Chayil Maison does high quality work while remaining upfront about their prices, not forcibly upselling, and always offering you a beverage while you're there! I can't say that about *any* other nail salon in this vicinity--at a time when so many other salons are downgrading their services and offering less in exchange for higher prices, it's a relief to be treated like an actual person and a client. It's also a relief that it's easy to communicate with everyone at this salon, and there are no opportunities for misunderstandings. Everyone is friendly, hospitable, communicative, and personable. To be candid, that alone makes it worthwhile paying a little more -- at other salons nearby, the constant stress of language barriers (and the problems that creates), unfriendly techs, and unexpected surcharges that are not explained ahead of time really builds up after a while. As a final bonus, I am grateful for the opportunity to give business to a black woman-owned salon. ~ Kirsten B

This is my neighborhood spot! Tameka took care of me for Burning Man. She braided my hair and did my pedicure. She took great care to make sure it was perfect and consulted me along the way to make sure I liked it. The results were . We had fun and she made me feel so comfortable. Even though she was closing up she noticed my toes and made time to take care of me. I'll definitely be back! The facilities are nice and clean and the staff are friendly. Visiting LA from Chicago and needed my nails done. Walked in and I was seen right away. The ladies were friendly and welcoming. Offered me water or wine which was great. The two ladies that did my pedicure and manicure really know what they are doing. My hands and feet look amazing and well manicured. The ladies were very thoughtful and extremely skillful as well. I went to Chayil Maison a few days ago - it was last minute and I just didn’t feel like doing my own blowout and nails. They were able to fit me into the schedule quickly and in the timeframe I needed. I saw Danielle for my blowout - she was quick and efficient. She asked me what I was wanting from the blowout, straight/curls/waves - and also what did I not want. She was gentle, no aggressive hair combing or heat on the scalp like I’ve had at other salons. My hair looks so good and smooth 2 days later. I can tell it’s a blowout that will last for me! Next I saw Emily for my full set of acrylic nails. She also asked what exactly I wanted, shape, length, color. She is meticulous in her application and uses excellent products for her craft. She was so much fun to talk with and I can tell she is passionate about her work. My nails are gorgeous and well balanced - she knows what she’s doing and it shows. I’ll be back for more! Glad to know downtown haas a great spot to get hair and nails done! I work as an esthetician at MedBeautyLA down the street and will be referring my clients here! ~ Holly B

I would recommend Salon to anybody that is in the downtown area not only is it one of them is clean and Salon‘s but the girls are really well trained to do the services the correct way they have all different types of drinks to offer you as well as tea and they have snacks and talk about the decorations they are beautiful always up to date on any holiday or season or anything that is going on the manager is great she trains the girls well I’m always there to help and assist when needed ~ bessie c

I called and asked for a same day facial. I was lucky enough to get in. I was called 1/2 hour before my appointment that they were running 1/2 hour late. I love that. I got there a little early & waited maybe 5 minutes in a comfortable area. I followed Tracie upstairs to a nice, quiet room. She was fantastic! My facial was relaxing and soothing. Danielle is an absolute acrylic and gel genius for artistic, pointy, or 3D nails. She is sweet to talk to and also the fastest nail tech I’ve ever had for the level of detail she does. The pricing is worth it. A lot of salons have varied pricing but similar level skills on hand… this place goes above and beyond. Perfect environment with tea, coffee, and snacks as well. Tameka took her time with my pedicure, she has changed me expectations on getting a pedicure in general this is the first time Anyone has ever cared for my toes as she has. Tameka styled my daughter's hair. Sounds simple until you learn my daughter was just released from spending 79 days in hospital. Her hair was badly matted and chunks had to be cut out. Tameka's job was to create a style out of uneven and damaged hair. She was amazing! My daughter's hair is beautiful. Tameka took a hopeless mess and made it into something truly beautiful. Downtown residents rejoice! We have the best nail salon in the city. Chayil Maison is the real deal. A professional salon with skilled technicians that are friendly, knowledgeable, gracious, and extremely talented. The spacious, clean, and welcoming atmosphere is just the beginning. This is my second time getting a pedicure here and they are great. You actually leave with your feet feeling soft. It’s also a black-woman owned business in DTLA. Tameka did a great job on my pedicure this time. She made sure that I was comfortable the whole time and suggested some great color options. They also provided wine, popcorn, and tea.
